The Josephs
I showed off Amber’s Richmond, VA bridal session a week or so ago! If you missed go back & be sure to check it out here! And now it’s time to show off her wedding! Amber was a die hard “do it yourself” bride! I had no idea how she found time to do all the things she did for the wedding & be a bride at the same time! But she pulled it off & they had a gorgeous May day wedding at Albemarle Plantation! The year before I had shot numerous weddings back to back at the Plantation as it was a super popular spot! Then they decided to close it down for a clubhouse remodel so I was glad for a venue break & was excited to see it reopened with more space!
I have a ton of images to share so I’ll get to it!
LOVE a girl not afraid of a colored shoe! These purple ones were perfect!
LOVE the tree painted on a canvas & then everyone inked it with a thumbprint for the leaves! Perfect idea for a guest book!
This was another fave of mine…Amber cut out a heart in a book out of hundreds of pages! It was the ring bearers’ pillow! Super cute idea! Time consuming I’m sure but so worth it to be different!
Ahhhh I LOVED this! They surprised everyone & broke out of their first dance with a fave K.C. & The Sunshine Bands “Boogie Shoes!” She practiced for months with Jesse!
They totally rocked it out!
Now ordinarily when the DJ puts the chair out on the floor for the garter toss I usually move it at an angle I can work with so I can get good shots & not crammed in a wall or something! So I moved the chair horizontally but when I did Jesse slid up beside me saying I was messing up his game & really needed it put back. Sneaky guy…had something awesome up his sleeve even I didn’t know about! Hands down they had the best garter toss last year! Jesse busted out in a mock striptease to one of my fave songs…Georgia Satellites “Keep Your Hands to Yourself!” Epic! It was AWESOME & totally shocked Amber as you can see below!
Had to get one more pic of their Boogie Shoes!
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
How did you meet?
Through a mutual friend. I knew early in the relationship that he was “the one”. He melted my heart and it was downhill after that lol
.
How did he propose?
Jesse and I were on vacation at the Outer Banks at the end of May 2010. Jesse wanted to go for a walk on the beach late that afternoon (Friday May 27th, 2010). We walked up and down the beach and at sunset he popped the question!! At first I did not believe him until he pulled out the ring. I wanted the wedding date to be as close to the purposal date so we were married exactly one year later May 28, 2011.
Best date ever?
LOVE just being together no matter what we do.
Some fun facts about you both:
Jesse: LOVES to sing. From the time his feet hit the floor in the morning he is singing. If he doesn’t know the words he makes up his own. I call this the singing version of turrets.
Amber: Enjoys being crafty. I tried to “think outside of the box” for wedding decorations and ideas. I like to be different and untraditional/un-ordinary (if that is even a word).
