Wanna get trashed? Not exactly sure what that means? It’s a super rad session where you get to put your wedding dress back on and create some new kick ass memories! We all know you’re bridal portraits are the pretty posed stuff for mama! But if you’ve ever wanted to jump in the ocean, roll around in some mud, throw some paint, swim in the dirty river, well here’s your chance!
And don’t worry, for those super attached to the dress or have mothers who will disown you at the idea..there’s something for you too!
What exactly does “trash” the dress mean? Trash can mean whatever you want it to! If you want to really trash it, go for it! If you don’t, no worries! It’s your session & totally up to you! You can get as dirty as you’d like, or not! This is your time to shoot in a place where you wouldn’t ordinarily see a bride!
Will it really be trashed for good? Honestly depends on what you decide to do with it! If you roll around in a shop in some oil or throw paint on it, then yep, obviously it’s gonna be trashed & more than likely unfixable! If you decide to roll around on the beach, jump in the ocean…a lil sand & some water never hurt anything!
Do I have to use my real wedding dress? Heck to the No! That’s what thrift stores are for & the sale racks at bridal shops! This is your time to dress it up, go crazy with the hair & makeup, throw on some boots, whatever you want! Some of my girls’ dresses have been so gorgeous I’d probably refuse to shoot it if they really wanted to trash it!
Where are some locations or ideas for a shoot? Anywhere your lil heart desires…the dirtier the better! A lot of girls like to pick something their husbands like & go with a theme…you know…hunting, fishing, farming..the good life! I’ve done shoots on a donkey farm, with horses, the beach, the river, a carwash, a muddy field just to name a few!
Can my husband join me? Absolutely! Make it an anniversary shoot! My grooms typically LOVE these sessions because they don’t feel pressured or rushed for time and they know what to expect after the wedding day!
Can I shoot with a group of my girlfriends? Yep, I’ve done that too! The more the merrier & makes for such fun memories for close friends!
Do I have to wait until after the wedding to do a session? Nope, not if you’re obviously not wearing your real dress! This works perfect for some of my couples who want to just do all their sessions before the wedding so they can relax & not have to worry about anymore pics after the wedding!
Can my dress still be preserved afterwards? Again, depends on what you plan to do in your shoot! Girls who have gotten in water or sand have gotten their cleaned with no problems! Those who threw paint or got super muddy, not so much!
